Streszczenie:
Opracowanie, wdrożenie i stosowanie procedur higienicznych mających na celu zapobieganie szerzeniu się zakażeń wpływa na bezpieczny pobyt pacjenta w szpitalu oraz gwarantuje bezpieczeństwo osobom mającym z nim kontakt. Należy pamiętać, że każda osoba hospitalizowana jest potencjalnym źródłem zakażenia, a wdrożenie prawidłowego postępowania może uratować zdrowie, a nawet życie zarówno innych chorych, jak i personelu medycznego. Procedury higieniczne – takie jak: izolacja pacjentów, higiena rąk, stosowanie środków ochrony indywidualnej, postępowanie z materiałem zakaźnym, bielizną, odpadami, dekontaminacja sprzętu i powierzchni – powinny stanowić standard opieki nad osobami hospitalizowanymi i być szeroko dostępne oraz dobrze znane każdemu członkowi personelu szpitalnego.

Abstract:
The development, implementation and use of hygienic procedures aimed at preventing the spread of infections results in the patient’s safe stay at the hospital and guarantees that those in contact with him remain healthy. We need to remember that every patient can be a potential source of infection and proper treatment can save the health and sometimes the lives of other patients and staff. Hygienic practices such as hand hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment, proper handling and disposal of infectious material, underwear, and waste, as well as decontamination of equipment and surfaces should be the standard of care, widely available and well known to all personnel.
