Abstract: Diabetic neuroosteoarthropathy, also known as Charcot joint, is a rare and severe complication occurring in patients with diabetes. The evolution of this process results in bone and joint destruction and recurrent foot ulcers. It leads to total malfunction of the affected joint level. The aim of this case report is to emphasise, that successful wound therapy as well as therapy of osteomyelitic changes are essential before deciding on further reconstructive treatment.

Key words: neuroarthropathy Charcot, NPWT Avelle™ system, ulceration
