Skin disinfection procedures on intensive care unit for adults and children as the prevention of hospital infections – review of the world literature

Streszczenie:
Zakażenia szpitalne w oddziałach intensywnej terapii medycznej (OITM) dotyczą około 30% pacjentów. W badaniach prowadzonych u osób przebywających na OITM w Irlandii w ramach „Point prevalence survey of hospital-acquired infections” w 2012 roku częstość występowania zakażeń szpitalnych (HAI) była ponad cztery razy większa (23,3%) niż w ogólnej populacji pacjentów (5,2%). Celem niniejszej pracy był przegląd badań oceniających procedury dezynfekcji skóry i ich wpływ na redukcję HAI na OITM.

Abstract:
In intensive care units (ICU) about 30% of patients are affected by hospital infection. During research conducted in intensive care wards in Ireland during „Point Prevalence Survey of Hospital-Acquired Infections” campaign in 2012 frequency of hospital infection occurrence (HAI) was over four times higher in case of patients admitted to ICU (23.3%) than in general patient population (5.2%). The aim of this paper is a review of research evaluating skin disinfection procedures and their influence on reducing hospital infection in intensive care unit.
